The Journal Header Image

The Journal is a WordPress blog. I used the "Blix" template but modified it to have the same header image I am using for the rest of the web site. This modification was pretty easy.

Using the WordPress admin application, I selected Presentation->Theme Editor. The Blix theme has 2 cascading style sheet (.css) files.

In the spring_flavour.css file I located the #header item and changed the name of the background-image:url item to match the .jpg file I was using for the SiteBuilder pages. This image is smaller than the standard Blix .jpg file so I had to also change #header item in the layout.css file reducing the height to 80 pixels.

The Home Link

The "Home" link on the blog page defaults to loading the blog page. Since this is not my web site home page I wanted it to load my web site home page. To do this I edited the "header.php" file. I located this code:

<li<?php if (is_home()) echo " class=\"selected\""; ?>><a href="<?php bloginfo('url'); ?>">Home</a></li>

I changed it to this:

<li<?php if (is_home()) echo " class=\"selected\""; ?>><a href="">Home</a></li>
